Week 4 - PCB Attempt 1

An Exercise in Failure

My first attempt at fabricating the circuit board faced a few issues.

Because of the bit sizes, there’s a weird design.

Design is Too Small: When I’d finally tried to get the design milled on the bantam, it ended up being a lot smaller than I’d anticipated.

Circuit Not Working: There’s likely a loose wire, or incorrect solder. I’ll have to re-do this for it to work. In the process of trying to diagnose the issue, I accidentally shorted some of the LED’s so the whole circuit is not going to work until I figure out what’s going wrong and fix it.

Wrong Tools: I accidentally ordered the wrong bits and realised this very late. Since I’d been set back a little bit because of my medical issues, I had to go it alone for most of the fabrication process.

Next Steps

I will have to redesign the files, and re-do the layouts since the auto layout didn’t help too much.
